RESEARCH INTEREST

My primary field of research interest expands on the ground of Operational Research. Operational research is the art of science applying advance analytic techniques to solve real practical problems that involve large datasets. It requires the need to be aware of options and thorough analysis before outlaying any decisions.  Decision defines as to ensure one makes the most of the resources and opportunities that they have as to optimise certain objectives. This field excites me due to the realisation of the usefulness towards assisting the decision making in real-world problems. Within this field, I focus my research on scheduling, the construction of effective mathematical models to develop high-quality and effective timetable that covers all aspect including user’s satisfaction. The early work on scheduling was initiated during my Master degree and the interest bloomed since then. For almost a decade, we have thus far produced a general mathematical model for university examination and course timetabling. The team is continuously working on improvements and currently being expanded aiming at applicability by most institution. Aside from scheduling, I am also appreciating the practical value of Operational Research in achieving optimal solution related to various areas of research such as aquaculture, agriculture, maritime and others. My current work also revolves around blending Operational Research with practical aspects of problems such as optimising feed formulation of marine species and producing a better composition of fertilizer for enhanced crop growth. Collaborations from other fields are very much welcome to widen the application of Operational Research.
